About the role

As the Senior Advisor Internal Communications, you are integral to the success of V/Line's Corporate Affairs Group.

Corporate Affairs is the organisation's central point for government and stakeholder relations, policy development and coordination, media and issues management, and internal and external communications.

Corporate Affairs provides trusted advice to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, strengthening V/Line's brand and reputation.

The Senior Advisor - Internal Communications supports the delivery of strategic internal communications that align our workforce in a shared vision, purpose and values.

Key to this role will be your ability to partner with teams from across V/Line to provide trusted advice, source and develop engaging content for our internal channels and deliver internal events.

As well as performing duties specified in this position description, an employee may be required to undertake other duties or functions consistent with their classification, capabilities and skills.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Develop and implement internal communications plans to support the delivery of V/Line's Corporate Plan and the Corporate Affairs Group Plan.
  • Write, edit and produce high quality content for publications (such as staff newsletters, the annual report and corporate plan), speeches, presentations, the intranet, leader emails and other channels as required.
  • Build strong internal stakeholder relationships to identify potential stories, manage issues and provide trusted, expert advice, including supporting the delivery of Group internal communications as required.
  • Plan and deliver engaging internal events such as leadership forums and all staff forums.
  • Measure the effectiveness of internal communications, using insights from data to increase engagement.
  • Liaise with other teams within Corporate Affairs to ensure consistency of messaging.
  • Flexibility to complete other duties as required.

About you

Reporting into the Head of Internal Communications, you will work closely with colleagues across Corporate Affairs to develop and deliver internal communications plans that inform our people about our strategic priorities, new initiatives, organisational changes and the impact of our work.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering strategic communications plans.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills (including speech writing), with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse employee audiences across multiple channels.
  • Experience planning and managing virtual, hybrid and in-person events or roadshows. (Desirable)
  • Adept at using technology, including the ability to quickly learn and be proficient in various content management systems/platforms, including SharePoint, Mail Chimp and Teams Live Events.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related discipline. (Desirable)
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and thrive in.
  • Demonstrated alignment with V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
