About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Senior Secondary Pathways Reform Taskforce (SSPRT), which was established in 2021 to lead a generational reform agenda in response to the 2020 Review into Vocational and Applied Learning Pathways in Senior Secondary Schooling. These reforms collectively support all Victorian secondary students to pursue high-quality and valued vocational pathways aligned to their strengths and interests and to finish schooling with the skills and capabilities they need for success in further education, training, work, and life.
The SSPRT includes 14 high performing and highly interdependent teams within four branches led by an Assistant Deputy Secretary.
This role sits within the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Delivered to School Students (VDSS) Branch.
About the Role
Fixed Term until 30 June 2027
Over one third of all Victorian senior secondary students currently complete VET as part of their studies and this continues to grow year on year.
The VDSS branch is tasked with reforming the way in which VET is delivered to school students in Victoria to accommodate for this growth and to ensure VET completed by secondary students is high quality and fit for purpose. This includes work to expand access, reform the current system settings and supporting schools through this significant change process.
This critical Manager role is leading one of three VDSS reform teams within the VDSS branch. This Manager role will lead the VDSS Engagement team and oversee the team's work:
- The work to bring schools across Victoria to collaborate and work together in VET Clusters to share provision, overcome access barriers and strategically plan VET delivery
- Implementation of a defined engagement process for schools and VET providers (Registered Training Organisations - RTOs) to reduce administrative burden and ensure system coherence
- Business development of a digital solution to support with school and provider engagement and the change management required to implement this
- Building the knowledge, understanding and capability of the VET system (including schools, VET clusters, RTOs) on all the VDSS reforms happening across the branch.
This role will often work flexibly across the branch to support with the broader VDSS reforms.
Attributes
This role requires strong stakeholder management skills, ability to get across a broad range of reforms and translate this to relevant audiences, and a capacity to lead system change.
Experience leading and managing a high functioning team is requried.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Experience in engaging with schools and understanding of VDSS would be highly advantageous but not necessary.
