Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Contour Education Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Description

Support the students. Steady the pressure. Shape the future.

At Contour, we don't believe student success is just about marks, it's about confidence, wellbeing, and clarity on what comes next. That's why we've created a brand-new role: Student Counsellor.

As our Student Counsellor, you'll be the calm in the storm for senior secondary students, helping them manage stress, burnout, and decision-making in the most high-pressure years of their lives. You'll guide them through ATAR choices, uni pathways, and career options, while making sure they feel steady, supported, and set up for life after school.

This is your chance to build something unique: a full-time, hybrid role where counselling meets future pathways guidance, in a fast-growing organisation that's reshaping education.

Who are we

We empower students and their studies by providing an ecosystem of highly effective tutoring, resources and support. We run weekly small-group tutoring sessions at our in-person campuses, presented by young and experienced tutors that teach in a simple, intuitive and engaging way. We also supplement these sessions with weekly workshops, complimentary 1-on-1 support and a learning portal with a comprehensive suite of resources and practice material to help students master their subjects.

Over 8,000 students and 250+ team members have joined Contour Education since our founding in the beginning of 2020. Our growth is a testament to our dedication in providing ALL our students and parents with a premium learning experience (from 24/7 personal support to on-demand resources) and our commitment to helping them achieve their personal goals, and achieve success in their school assessments and exams. We've been listed three years in a row as one of the Fastest Growing Startups by the Australian Financial Review, and we're continuing to multiply year over year

It's our vision to reshape education, one student at a time.

What You'll do

  • Be the safe space Provide one-on-one counselling for students navigating stress, anxiety, or confidence dips.
  • Spot early signs Identify burnout or disengagement and act quickly with the right strategies or referrals.
  • Guide the journey Support ATAR, VTAC, tertiary and vocational planning, helping students map realistic, inspiring post-school pathways.
  • Partner with families Build trust and reassurance with parents while collaborating with tutors and leaders for consistent support.
  • Keep it professional Maintain confidential records, uphold ethical practice, and contribute insights to shape Contour's wider student experience.

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum 3+ years in a similar student-centric counselling role
  • Relevant counselling qualifications (e.g. Bachelor of Counselling, Psychology, or similar).
  • Experience working with young people, and the emotional steadiness to support them through pressure.
  • Deep knowledge of VCE, pathways, and post-school options.
  • Judgment to know when to support, when to challenge, and when to refer.
  • A warm, collaborative style that engages families, students, and colleagues alike.
What You'll Get
  • A unique, first-of-its-kind role in student support.
  • Hybrid flexibility, output matters more than office hours.
  • Competitive salary and supportive benefits (EAP, birthday leave, lifestyle allowances).
  • Growth opportunities as Contour scales nationally.
  • Real impact, shaping not just students' results, but their futures.

We're ambitious, student-first, and unapologetically focused on reshaping education. If you're ready to support students not only through their exams, but through life's biggest decisions, Contour is ready for you.

Apply now and become the steady hand that helps students thrive.
