The Settlement Hotel Cranbourne is an exciting hospitality complex full of old world Victorian comfort and charm. We are seeking an experienced Chef to work on a rotating basis within a fast-paced environment. Our team is an established one; we value our staff just as much as our loyal customers and offer a great work environment.

Duties:

  • Preparing, cooking and presenting high quality dishes within the speciality section
  • Assisting the Head Chef and Sous Chef in creating menu items, recipes and developing dishes
  • Ability to work in all stations as required i.e. functions, pans & larder
  • Assisting with the management of health and safety
  • Assisting with the management of food hygiene practices
  • Monitoring portion and waste control
  • Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen and food safety standards
  • Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
  • Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
  • Preparing and cooking food
  • Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
  • Create a vision for the cuisine, inspire the team and delegate tasks effectively

The successful applicant will have 2 years' experience in a similar role and a willing desire to learn and self-develop.

A positive attitude with a strong work ethic and good communication skills.  Ability to work well within a team environment and under pressure.  Be available to work, days, nights and weekends and have your own reliable transport.
