Journe is currently seeking compassionate support workers to assist NDIS participants across Raymond Terrace, Maitland and Kurri Kurri. We are looking for individuals who bring empathy, reliability and a genuine desire to help others thrive. This opportunity may suit mature males and females, as well as University students studying Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Nursing or Nutrition and Dietetics who are eager to gain practical experience in the community. Those with lived experience of disability, either personally or through supporting a loved one, often find they connect particularly well with participants and bring valuable understanding to the role.

A range of weekday and weekend shifts are available across these areas, offering flexibility to suit different lifestyles and commitments. At Journe, we understand the importance of a good match between participants and support workers, so we take the time to consider each person's interests, experience, availability and preferences to ensure the best possible fit.

About Us:

Journe is a small boutique NDIS provider located in the Hunter Valley specialising in Mental Health. We provide capacity building supports for participants in the Maitland, Newcastle, Cessnock and Lake Macquarie areas. We are committed to empowering individuals and promoting inclusivity within our community. Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality care and support tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

Position Overview:

As a NDIS Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing direct support to individuals with disabilities, fostering independence, and enhancing their overall well-being. Participants may require gently encouragement to stay engaged with daily activities and community access. In addition to this, you will be responsible for implementing person-centred plans, supporting daily activities and promoting community participation.

This role will be a contractor position to give you greater autonomy with your work. We offer a supportive workplace culture and flexible work schedule that can be easily adjusted around other commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities.
  • Assist in daily living activities.
  • Implement individualised support plan goals.
  • Foster community engagement and social inclusion.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure holistic care.
  • Document and report on the progress of individuals.

Requirements:

  • Passion for supporting individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience in disability support or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
