What's the brief?
We're looking for an experienced HR Manager to step into a 14-month fixed-term role, covering a parental leave absence at a well-known Australian retailer. Leading a team of HR Business Partners and an HR Advisor, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining continuity and driving best-practice HR with a strong emphasis on employee relations and compliance. With a handover period built in on either side, this is a fantastic opportunity to make an immediate impact in a fast-paced retail environment.

What you'll be doing
- Lead and coach a team of HR Business Partners and an HR Advisor
- Oversee and advise on complex ER matters including terminations, bullying, harassment, and discrimination cases
- Provide guidance on legal claims and Fair Work Commission processes
- Deliver capability training for managers
- Ensure award compliance through regular audits and reporting
- Partner with leaders to drive alignment between people and business goals
- Communicate people processes and outcomes clearly and effectively to all stakeholders
- Work closely with the HR Operations team to ensure smooth delivery of people initiatives in the business
- Contribute to ongoing process and compliance improvements across the HR function
Your toolkit
- Proven HR leadership experience, ideally within retail or hospitality and knowledge if relevant awards
- Strong employee relations expertise, including serious and sensitive cases
- Hands-on experience with Fair Work legislation and Commission processes
- Confidence managing legal claims and advising on strategy
- Skilled at delivering capability training and practical ER workshops
- Track record of building trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to coach and mentor HR team members to build confidence and capability
- Strong business partnering approach with commercial acumen
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues
- Comfortable working at pace, balancing strategy with day-to-day delivery
