Annual Salary: AUD $180,000 – $200,000 (plus performance-based incentives)

Purpose of the Role

The Managing Director (MD) will lead the establishment, growth, and strategic execution of MPOWA Finance's Australian operations. The role encompasses leadership across finance, fintech, compliance, and business development — with direct accountability for operational efficiency, financial control, and sustainable expansion in a regulated lending environment.

This position requires a bold, self-driven executive with proven expertise in finance, credit products, fintech innovation, regulatory compliance, and digital business growth.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership


• Lead daily operations across all business units, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and performance consistency.


• Develop and implement accountability frameworks, operational processes, and performance metrics aligned with company strategy.


• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, reduce costs, and scale operations.


• Partner with the Executive Team to align operational strategy with overall growth objectives.


• Mentor and develop senior managers and teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and innovation.


• Promote a strong organisational culture, aligned with company values and employee engagement principles.


• Identify and mitigate operational and compliance risks, ensuring full alignment with Australian Credit Licence obligations and regulatory standards.


• Optimise Microsoft 365 and other business systems to streamline workflows, automate reporting, and strengthen data-driven decision-making.


• Monitor KPIs, analyse performance trends, and provide strategic support to operational leaders.

Financial Leadership


• Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and cash flow management.


• Apply detailed knowledge of IFRS 9, particularly in Expected Credit Loss (ECL) modelling and provisioning.


• Implement and monitor financial control frameworks to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial and operational data.


• Manage investor relations, capital raising, and funding initiatives to support the company's growth trajectory.


• Ensure compliance with Australian corporate, taxation, and financial reporting standards.


• Allocate resources effectively within budget to achieve strategic goals and maintain profitability.

Fintech & Technology Oversight


• Lead the execution of the company's technology and digital strategy.


• Recruit, guide, and oversee software development teams to deliver business-driven technological outcomes.


• Evaluate and manage the performance of development projects, ensuring delivery within budget and scope.


• Source cost-effective electronic service providers, development partners, and cloud solutions.


• Drive continuous innovation through emerging AI, data analytics, and fintech trends.


• Design and oversee API integrations and real-time systems enabling efficient customer acquisition and underwriting.


• Act as a bridge between business operations and technical execution, translating strategic goals into scalable system architecture.

Compliance & Risk Management


• Ensure full adherence to Australian Credit Licence requirements and Australian Credit Law.


• Manage compliance with ASIC, AUSTRAC, Privacy Act, and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).


• Oversee KYC, AML/CTF, and credit assessment processes to ensure alignment with national standards.


• Maintain and enforce privacy, consumer data, and documentation requirements.


• Ensure credit bureau data integrity, responsible lending practices, and accurate record-keeping.


• Serve as the compliance liaison with regulators and industry bodies, maintaining transparent communication channels.

Business Development & Market Expansion


• Develop and execute the company's client acquisition and growth strategy for the Australian online lending market.


• Leverage in-depth understanding of digital marketing channels — CPL, CPA, revenue per click, lifetime value — to drive efficient lead generation.


• Build and manage strategic partnerships with affiliates, comparison platforms, and advertising networks.


• Formalise strategies to grow the loan book profitably and achieve annual lending and revenue targets.


• Ensure compliance with advertising standards, data privacy laws, and digital marketing regulations.


• Continuously assess lead quality and optimise acquisition costs through analytical, data-driven performance measurement.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential: Chartered Accountant (CA / CPA Australia equivalent)

Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration

Advantageous: Additional qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems

Experience: 10–15 years minimum in finance, credit, or fintech leadership roles with exposure to compliance and technology integration.

Base Salary: AUD $180,000 – $200,000 per annum
