HSEQ Manager

PURPOSE:

The HSEQ Manager develops, implements, and maintains the company's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) management systems across all operations, ensuring compliance with legislation, ISO standards, and internal policies. The role drives risk mitigation, continuous improvement, and a proactive culture of safety and quality across design, fabrication, and installation activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Health & Safety Management

· Lead the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the Safety Management System (ISO

· Conduct and oversee safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations, ensuring timely corrective actions.

· Coordinate induction, training, and toolbox programs to promote safe work practices.

· Partner with Project Managers and Supervisors to maintain compliant site safety documentation (e.g. SWMS, JSA).

· Monitor and report on safety performance trends to senior management, recommending improvements.

Environmental Management

· Manage the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), ensuring compliance and sustainability across operations.

· Oversee waste management, hazardous material handling, and pollution control activities.

· Conduct site inspections and audits to verify environmental standards are met.

· Promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices within all teams.

Quality Assurance

· Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System (ISO 9001), ensuring consistency across projects.

· Lead internal audits, manage non-conformances, and implement corrective and preventive measures.

· Support production and project teams with inspection processes, documentation, and ITP compliance.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve product quality and client satisfaction.

Compliance & Governance

· Ensure all HSEQ procedures, policies, and documentation meet current legislation and industry standards.

· Coordinate external audits, certification renewals, and regulatory reporting.

· Maintain a compliance register and manage updates to align with changes in legislation.

Culture & Training

· Build and sustain a strong safety-first culture that prioritises wellbeing, accountability, and continuous learning.

· Deliver HSEQ training, workshops, and communications that engage all levels of the organisation.

· Partner with leaders to embed HSEQ principles in day-to-day operations and project planning.

PROFESSIONAL / TERTIARY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Formal qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or Quality Systems.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a construction or manufacturing environment (preferably façade, glazing, or cladding industry).
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 systems and implementation.
• Strong understanding of WHS Act 2011, Regulations, and relevant Codes of Practice.
• Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and compliance documentation.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

• Comprehensive understanding of WHS, environmental, and quality management principles.
• Strong auditing, reporting, and risk assessment skills.
• Ability to interpret legislation, standards, and client specifications.
• High attention to detail and systematic approach to compliance documentation.
• Proactive, confident communicator and team influencer.
• Competent in digital HSEQ systems (e.g. SiteDocs, HammerTech, or similar).

WORKING REQUIREMENTS & CONDITIONS:

· Office-based at Melbourne Airport.

· Regular visits to factory and project sites (metro and regional).

· Occasional after-hours or weekend work for incident response or audits as required.
