Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a HSEQ Manager, located in Melbourne Airport, VIC.
The HSEQ Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality management systems across all operations — from design and fabrication through to delivery and installation. This role ensures that all work undertaken by the company and its subcontractors meets legislative requirements, aligns with internal safety and quality standards, and supports a culture of continual improvement. The HSEQ Manager partners with operational teams to drive compliance, mitigate risks, and uphold the company's reputation for safe, high-quality project delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Health & Safety Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001 and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Conduct site safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Oversee induction and training programs for employees and subcontractors.
  • Support Project Managers and Supervisors to manage site safety documentation (e.g. SWMS, JSA, toolbox meetings).
  • Maintain the company's safety performance metrics and report trends to senior management.

Environmental Management

  • Develop and oversee environmental management procedures aligned with ISO 14001.
  • Ensure waste management, material handling, and site practices minimise environmental impact.
  • Monitor environmental compliance on all projects and promote sustainable work practices.

Quality Assurance

  • Maintain and improve the company's Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001.
  • Oversee internal audits, non-conformance reporting, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Support Production and Site teams with quality inspections, documentation control, and ITPs.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fabrication and installation quality.

Compliance & Governance

  • Stay up-to-date with relevant WHS, environmental, and building regulations.
  • Ensure company procedures, policies, and documentation remain compliant with current legislation.
  • Coordinate external audits and certification renewals.

Culture & Training

  • Foster a strong safety and quality culture across all departments.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, workshops, and internal training sessions.
  • Engage employees at all levels in proactive HSEQ initiatives.

PROFESSIONAL / TERTIARY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Formal qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or Quality Systems.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a construction or manufacturing environment (preferably façade, glazing, or cladding industry).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 systems and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of WHS Act 2011, Regulations, and relevant Codes of Practice.
  • Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and compliance documentation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Comprehensive understanding of WHS, environmental, and quality management principles.
  • Strong auditing, reporting, and risk assessment skills.
  • Ability to interpret legislation, standards, and client specifications.
  • High attention to detail and systematic approach to compliance documentation.
  • Proactive, confident communicator and team influencer.
  • Competent in digital HSEQ systems (e.g. SiteDocs, HammerTech, or similar).
