Your new role

Maintain the operational efficiency of Council's GIS and ensure that information acquired through use of the GIS is as relevant, accurate and up to date as possible.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain the GIS data library, applying information and data received from other relevant departments and external agencies (vector & raster).
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues across core GIS datasets.
  • Develop, document and make accessible technical maintenance procedures for GIS suite of products.
  • Assist in developing, building and delivering new solutions with in GIS Suite of Products (Intramaps, mapbuilder, FME, QGIS, ROAM).
  • Provide and conduct formal training to end users on the use of GIS to assist them in their daily work activities, in accordance with Council's training & development procedures.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Knowledge and understanding of the application of GIS in a local government environment is desirable.
  • Development and delivery of solutions in Intramaps and QGIS/MapInfo (or similar GIS products)
  • Demonstrated experience using ETL processes and scripting (FME)
  • Proven functional knowledge of SQL database platform.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in developing and delivering solutions within GIS environments (Intramaps/QGIS/MapInfo preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in using ETL processes and tools such as FME
  • Experience in identifying, investigating and resolving errors within complex GIS systems.
