About The Role
As a Project Engineer – Track & Civil, you'll play a vital role in shaping Victoria's rail network by delivering the development phases of track and civil projects within the Major Periodic Maintenance (MPM) Program as part of V/Line's Annual Works Plan. You'll ensure compliance with design standards, manage risk effectively, and work closely with the Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer to achieve safe, efficient outcomes that benefit communities across the state.
Key accountabilities include:
- Provide engineering and project management support for planning and development activities.
- Coordinate site investigations, surveys, and assessments to inform design and costing.
- Ensure design works align with V/Line's Design Management Process.
- Participate in Safety in Design workshops and manage identified risks.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to meet compliance and project objectives.
- Prepare project briefs and progress reports, including financial forecasting.
- Obtain necessary approvals and manage change requests as required.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in rail and civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical proficiency and knowledge of engineering standards and design principles.
- Demonstrated ability in risk management and project delivery.
- Experience with ground works and rail construction.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Demonstrated alignment with V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.

The total remuneration package for this role starts at approximately $105,000 inclusive of superannuation, with flexibility based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
