We are currently seeking an experienced Track Engineer to join our team in Melbourne.

About the Role:

As Track Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping the design and performance of the track system of a major project to ensure it meets future operational needs. You'll provide technical reviews, ensure safety and reliability standards are upheld, and work closely with stakeholders to optimise track design for long-term performance and cost efficiency.

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Reviewing track specifications and designs to ensure they meet operational, safety, and performance requirements
  • Supporting the development of O&M needs and translating them into project requirements
  • Ensuring track design achieves system-wide performance targets, including RAM, noise, and vibration standards
  • Reviewing and advising on stabling yard and depot track layouts to optimise operations and asset capacity
  • Overseeing interfaces such as wheel–rail interaction and integration with other sub-systems
  • Contributing to Safety in Design workshops and design reviews to ensure an operator-led approach
  • Supporting O&M readiness through the development of track-related maintenance procedures and asset information
  • Monitoring lifecycle cost (LCC) assumptions and driving improvements through design phases
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices
Profile

About You:

You are an experienced track engineer with strong technical expertise and a proven ability to work across design, construction, and maintenance phases. You bring both the technical depth and collaborative approach needed to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in a related engineering discipline
  • 7–10 years' experience in track design, manufacturing, testing & commissioning, and maintenance, including depot equipment and predictive maintenance technologies
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders
  • Experience with design review processes and an understanding of rail operations and maintenance
  • Certification or training in relevant system technologies or methodologies (desirable)
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies, with a track record of supporting complex projects (desirable)
