As our Project Engineer, you willplay a key role in shaping the future of Victoria's regional rail network.
You will bring confidence, autonomy, and proven experience in track and civil engineering to a team that's delivering some of the state's most significant infrastructure projects.
Your contributions will directly support the safe and effective delivery of track and civil works across the network, ensuring engineering solutions meet operational, safety and environmental standards.
About the Role
You are a confident and capable rail operator with solid experience in track and civil engineering. You work well independently, communicate clearly, and know how to navigate complex stakeholder environments. With at least three years of project delivery experience, you're ready to take ownership of your work and contribute meaningfully to V/Line.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, preferably Civil Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer Victoria (RPEV) in civil engineering
- Proven experience in project delivery, ideally 3+ years
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including negotiation, collaboration in ambiguous environments, and the ability to influence and enhance cross-functional performance
- A current driver licence or the ability to travel independently to site, as required
Highly Desirable
- Level 1 Track Safety Awareness training, or willingness to obtain
- Experience in rail, track, civil or structures
- Accreditation with the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM)
- Sound knowledge of V/Line and Victorian railway operations
- Understanding of rolling stock build, maintenance regimes, and type testing procedures
Important Considerations
This role is a Risk Category 3 position and will require a successful completion of safety assessments and a medical check.
Benefits
Salary from $117,500 (Base $104,911, Super $12,589 super).
Benefits include 4 weeks' annual leave, 12% employer-paid superannuation, and free myki travel for metro and regional travel.
