About the Role

It's an exciting time for Business Growth Services at Swinburne. As Senior Manager, Business Growth Services, you'll drive strategic partnerships, commercial research opportunities, and impactful collaborations across industry, government, and community. Shape the future of research and enterprise, deliver measurable outcomes, and empower teams to achieve bold, future-focused goals.

This role will work closely with the School of Engineering (SoE) and the School of Science, Computing and Emerging Technologies (SoSCET). SoE offers world-class education and research in civil, mechanical, product design, structural and architectural engineering, advanced manufacturing, construction management and aviation, supported by cutting-edge facilities. SoSCET delivers industry-focused courses in science, chemistry, biotechnology, physics, astronomy, mathematics, computer science, software engineering and IT, combining strong theory with hands-on experience and access to leading research.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

·       Comprehensive knowledge of driving complementary research programs and applied experience in developing and implementing program-level business growth strategy for

research, education and training.

·       Proven ability to translate complex research outputs into commercial outcomes including licensing, spin-offs, and venture creation with a strong understanding of research productisation and technology transfer models.

·       Demonstrated capability in full-cycle business development, from lead generation through to deal closure and customer retention, aligned with strategic commercialisation goals and institutional objectives.

·       Proven experience managing complex projects and multiple priorities, including the use of CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), to deliver successful engagements and reporting outcomes.

·       Proven ability to influence stakeholders and foster collaborative relationships, risk mitigation and dispute resolution across the broader organisation, particularly Schools, their related research entities and the senior leadership, to achieve the desired commercial objectives.

Qualifications

·       Postgraduate qualification in Business or Entrepreneurship & Innovation and extensive relevant experience ; or extensive management experience and proven management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience in scientific research or engineering environments.
