Situated on the banks of the Noosa River, our bustling restaurant seeks a motivated Sous Chef to join the team. The ideal candidate brings creative energy to menu design, adding distinction while highlighting the region's fresh produce. Skills & AttributesA chef at GTs Bar and Restaurant manages a wide range of responsibilities vital to the restaurant's ongoing success. The primary focus is on ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and consistently delivers quality food. This role blends culinary expertise, creativity in menu design, team management, leadership, accounting, scheduling, and customer relations.
· Experience as a Sous Chef or as a Chef de Partie ready to advance is essential.
· Demonstrated track record of thriving in a team environment and supporting the successful operation of a kitchen.
Chef Duties· Always perform all duties to the best of your ability.
· Actively promote and protect the interests of the employer.
· Follow all reasonable and lawful directions, including compliance with current policies and procedures.
· Oversee kitchen operations: food purchasing, preparation, record-keeping, quality standards, and sanitation.
· Train staff in cooking techniques, plating, portion control, and cost management.
· Assist with health and safety management and food hygiene practices.
· Maintain kitchen and food safety standards.
· Plan menus, estimate costs for food and labour, and order supplies.
· Monitor dish quality throughout preparation and presentation.
· Collaborate with managers, dietitians, kitchen, and waiting staff on food preparation matters.
· Demonstrate and advise on cooking methods and procedures.
· Prepare and cook food to standard.
· Explain and enforce hygiene regulations.
· May select and train staff, as well as preserve and freeze foods when required.

About YouThe ideal candidate will have:
· A Food Safety Certificate and relevant cookery qualifications (Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent).
· Ability to prepare high-quality meals in a fast-paced setting.
· Commitment to excellent hygiene and safe work practices.
· Creativity and passion for the culinary industry.
· Understanding or willingness to learn financial aspects, including weekly budgets and food costs.
· Leadership qualities to inspire and guide the kitchen team.
· First Aid, RMLV, and RSA certifications highly valued, though not essential.
Experience· Minimum of 3 years direct, proven experience as a chef in a full-dining restaurant.
· Experience with European cuisine is highly regarded.
