Position Description

We are seeking a Chef to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Designing menus and daily specials, determining food and labour requirements, and coordinating ordering with suppliers.
  • Overseeing the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals to ensure consistent standards of quality and portioning.
  • Supervising and training kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking methods, safe food handling, and hygiene compliance.
  • Working with management and service staff on menu planning, dietary needs, and customer feedback.
  • Ensuring all kitchen operations comply with workplace health, safety, and hygiene requirements.
  • Applying advanced cooking techniques and advising staff on efficient preparation and service procedures.
  • Managing stock levels, storage, and preservation of food, including safe freezing and maintenance practices.
  • Assisting with rostering and labour planning to support productivity and cost control.

Skills and Experience

Applicants must have:

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification) or at least three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as a chef in a café, restaurant, or catering environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu development.
  • Proven ability to supervise and train staff in a fast-paced hospitality setting.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety legislation and workplace hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
