Foster Johnson Family and Collaborative Lawyers (affectionately known as "FoJo") are a boutique family law firm in the Canberra CBD looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Legal Assistant to join our close knit and energetic team.

The successful candidate ideally has experience as a legal/administrative assistant (ideally in family law), excellent attention to detail, the ability to manage a varied workload that will at times be demanding, a flexible and kind attitude and enjoy working in a small but vibrant and collegial team. It is imperative that you have exceptional organisational skills.

The responsibilities for this role include (but aren't limited to):

  • When our receptionist is not available to answer incoming / outgoing phone calls, welcoming clients and visitors to the office
  • Saving and renaming letters and emails
  • Saving, renaming and sorting through financial disclosure
  • Drafting letters
  • Preparing initial Court documents
  • Preparing briefs (electronic and paper)
  • Managing and prioritising tasks
  • Filing documents on the ComCourts portal
  • Speaking with prospective clients and making subsequent appointments
  • Invoicing clients at the end of each month
  • Assisting FoJo's bookkeeper at relevant times, including end of month, end of quarter and end of financial year
  • Assisting with annual trust account audits
  • Diary management
  • General day to day assisting our lawyers with file management
  • Assisting with the logging of precedents

This position is available immediately in a full time role from Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. Salary will be referrable to your experience and abilities and various other factors which we will discuss with successful applicants.
