About the role

Reporting to the Team Leader- Clinical Services, the Behaviour Support Practitioner is a key member of the multidisciplinary Clinical Services team providing high-quality, trauma-informed, and evidence-based services across Victoria, Queensland, and nationally via telehealth. The role supports clients with complex needs, including neurodevelopmental and psychosocial disabilities, and histories of offending behaviour who are often subject to restrictive practices.

The Behaviour Support Practitioner is responsible for conducting functional behavioural assessments, risk assessments, and developing comprehensive, person-centred Behaviour Support Plans aimed at reducing behaviours of concern, managing risk, and improving quality of life. They deliver therapeutic and skill-building interventions that promote emotional regulation, positive behaviour change, and overall wellbeing.

The practitioner works closely with internal teams as well as external NDIS support services, families and carers to ensure coordinated, holistic care tailored to each client's needs and goals. The role also involves providing training, clinical consultation, and reflective practice to support staff in consistently applying evidence-based strategies across settings. Services are delivered across diverse environments, including residential programs, community settings, correctional centres, hospitals, and ACSO hubs.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum tertiary qualification in an area relevant to behaviour change (Psychology, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology)
  • Current NDIS registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner (or ability to meet registration) Experience providing Positive Behaviour Support or Applied Behaviour Analysis to clients
  • Demonstrated experience in Functional Behaviour Assessment and behaviour support planning
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to provide sound clinical advice, training, client advocacy and consultancy services. Additionally, an ability to navigate and work effectively in complex care teams and a multi-disciplined team
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team under the direction of a supervisor
  • Sound working knowledge of NDIS processes, including those specific to behaviour support.
  • Experience and knowledge in working with offending behaviour, complex behaviour and risk management principles would be advantageous
  • Willingness and ability to travel
