About The Role;

  • Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBA) to identify underlying causes and contributing factors of behaviours of concern.
  • Identify and monitor restrictive practices, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation and best-practice frameworks.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate Behaviour Support Plans (interim and comprehensive) that address individual needs in accordance with the Disability Services Standards, Child Safety, NDIS, and other relevant legislative requirements.
  • Plan, deliver, and review evidence-based behaviour support interventions tailored to each individual's goals and circumstances.
  • Provide training and guidance in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies to participants, families, support staff, and other stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with a senior or more experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner, deliver training on the implementation of behaviour support strategies and interventions outlined in the Behaviour Support Plan.
  • Apply specialised knowledge and practical skills to deliver positive behaviour support as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain independent oversight of your caseload, ensuring timely and high-quality service delivery.
  • Engage actively in supervision and ongoing professional development, using feedback and reflection to strengthen behaviour support capability and practice.s
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience working with people with disability who present with behaviours of concern, using person-centred and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Sound understanding of the principles, values, and frameworks underpinning Positive Behaviour Support.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice and its practical application within PBS frameworks.
  • Strong working knowledge of the NDIS, NDIS Practice Standards, and relevant legislative and ethical requirements.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and professional documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams, including allied health professionals, managers, external stakeholders, clients, and families.
  • A collaborative and consultative approach, with proven ability to build rapport, gain cooperation, and foster positive working relationships.
  • Well-developed organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands effectively.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities, supporting sound clinical reasoning and decision-making.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Community Services, Education, Psychology, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Social Work, Speech Pathology, or Occupational Therapy.
  • Assessed by the NDIS Commission as a Provisional, Core, Proficient, or Advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner under the PBS Capability Framework.
