Job Summary:

Due to the forecast of projected work across our Australian data centers Equinix are recruiting for a Project and Program Manager to work with project sponsors and key stakeholders, define program objectives and project scope across our Australian portfolio. You will plan, monitor, and lead programs and projects from initiation through to completion, secure required resources, and use formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, issues, and changes.

The ideal candidate will be a value centered individual and passionate about collaborating with internal and external partners. Working closely with the PMO lead, Cross-Functional team, Site Supervisors and Engineers – we are looking for someone to bring their passion, enthusiasm, and energy to match strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Data Center experience is not crucial but will be highly regarded, whilst an engineering (electrical/mechanical) mentality, technical proficiency, and ability to handle and deliver multiple projects concurrently is a must. The projects will vary over time though a high proportion of these will focus on operational infrastructure upgrades and working as a Operations lead on larger scale construction run builds.

The role is an additional headcount to the team, and we are looking to interview from Monday November 10th.

Key responsibilities:

  • Executing against project deliverables including scope, budget, schedule and quality 
  • Manages project budgets, and implements resources to complete projects within our Data Center's
  • Ensures completion to Equinix's required standards, KPI's and SLA's
  • Champions, understands and contributes to the AU sustainability responsibilities
  • Ensures accurate processes are followed and all documentation is complete
  • Vendor and GC relationships – Contract negotiations and governance within supply chain (e.g., looking at bigger bids, projects with higher visibility, greater spend, tender processes)
  • Communicates importance of working safely, effectively and with high regard to human error avoidance
  • Ensures collaborative relationships with all colleagues

Qualifications, Key Skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant and equivalent project experience
  • Engineering and/or Project Management qualifications highly regarded
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset for accomplishing sophisticated goals
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Dedication to delivering a phenomenal customer and stakeholder experience
  • Understanding of design documents, contracts, and technical information, with a high technical knowledge of computer software use (Microsoft applications & Email etc.)
  • Validated experience handling operational requirements and making targeted recommendations
  • Solid understanding of crucial tools, techniques and methods to complete assigned tasks
  • Proactive approach that can adapt easily to a changing environment and has excellent time management skills
  • Understanding of Data Center critical infrastructure or related mission critical environments as the projects will primarily focus on mechanical, electrical and controls EOL upgrades
  • Strong interpersonal and multi-tasking skills, and execution ability whilst working in a high-energy and fast-paced environment
