Sample Receipt Assistant

An exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, hands on Sample Receipt Assistant has become available at SGS, in our Alexandria, NSW laboratory. The position may be offered as either casual or permanent full-time, depending on the candidate's suitability.

As a member of the team, you will assist management in maintaining SGS's capability to analyze soil, water, and air samples. In particular, you will provide support to the Sample Log-in operations and ensure timely services are provided. The successful applicant will also be required to drive, including the pickup and drop-off of samples and consumables from and to clients' sites.

No formal degree needed—if you're keen to learn and interested in lab work, we want to hear from you School leavers and those with TAFE qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

• Sorting samples upon arrival and ensure samples are identified, labelled, temperature is taken and stored correctly.
• Pre registration and/or full registration in SLIM.
• Providing assistance/support to the team by login in and/or cross-checking entries.
• Liaise with clients to ensure satisfactory customer focussed services are provided.
• Upon arrival, ensure all sample containers are cleaned and housekeeping is well maintained to prevent contaminations during log-in and sub-sampling process.
• Train new staff in appropriate procedures.
• Ensure expected standards of quality are applied in line with SGS's quality policy and NATA accreditation requirements.
• Ensure that safety equipment is used where necessary, used correctly and used at all times.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Sample Administration Manager.

• No formal degree is required – if you have an interest in laboratory work, a willingness to learn, and are coachable, we encourage you to apply.
• High school graduates, school leavers, and those with TAFE-level qualifications are welcome.
• Prior laboratory experience is preferred but not essential.
• Capability and willingness to perform manual handling and lifting tasks.
• A valid driver's license is essential.
• Flexibility to work morning or afternoon rosters.
