Primary objective

The role provides high-level policy advice and manages projects to ensure equitable, patient-centred cancer care across the

Northern Territory. It fosters strategic partnerships and drives innovation to support excellence in cancer prevention, treatment,

and care.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide policy and program advice to informed evidence-based decision-making across the cancer care continuum

2. Contribute to and support cancer-related projects in collaboration with clinical services and other stakeholders

1. Offer policy advice on complex and sensitive issues, including the preparation of Ministerial briefings, correspondence, Cabinet

submissions, reports, and other government documentation.

4. Collate and analyse data and information to identify strategic, evidence-based options for achieving desired cancer outcomes.

5. Coordinate the management of the NT Clinical Cancer Network, project advisory groups, and other working groups to govern

and monitor strategies aimed at improving cancer outcomes.

6. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including NT Health staff, subject

matter experts, government agencies, and non-government sector partners.

7. Follow defined service quality standards and work health and safety policies and procedures to support high quality, safe

services and workplaces.

8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Bachelor/Post Graduate qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health, or a related discipline.

2. Demonstrated experience in providing high quality, comprehensive information, policy analysis and program development

advice.

3. Demonstrated experience in using policy frameworks and analytical tools to develop and communicate advice and

recommendations.

4. Demonstrated ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including government, community, and private sector

representatives.

5. Demonstrated project management experience, including delivering high-quality outcomes on time.

6. Excellence in oral and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate and liaise effectively with a range of internal

and external stakeholders.

Desirable

1. Demonstrated understanding of the cancer care continuum inclusive of cancer screening and prevention.
