About the role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join our Finance team on a permanent full-time basis. Join a dedicated and supportive team in making a difference in the lives of nurses and midwives

The Accountant's role applies specialist financial knowledge to analyse complex issues, ensure accurate reporting, support decision-making, and maintain the financial integrity of the organisation's operations and member services.

Key outcomes include the preparation and delivery of relevant, accurate and timely financial reports to key stakeholders including the annual budget and revised forecasts, the completion of financial tasks in accordance with policies and procedures, accounting standards and statutory requirements and providing effective support to the Finance Manager in the management of the Union's assets.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and can quickly learn the ropes to provide timely support to the Finance team. You must have a good eye for detail to identify discrepancies and be proactive in problem-solving. Additionally, to be successful in this role you will possess the following:

• Degree qualified with experience in a similar role
• Professional CA or CPA recognition
• Sound knowledge of general accounting packages, systems, excel and business reporting tools with TechnologyOne experience highly regarded
• Experience in delivering financial and management reports to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
• Demonstrated experience in dealing with external stakeholders
• High level knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, standards, and practices to analyse and solve complex problems with multiple possible solutions
• In-depth knowledge of financial management practices including reporting, analysis, compliance, budgeting and cost control principles
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
• High level of attention to detail with strong written and presentation skills
• Ability to be self-directed, establish priorities, use initiative and be proactive in raising and dealing with issues
