The Policy Officer reports to the Assistant Director, Policy and works within the National Suicide Prevention Office Policy Section contributing to strategic policy work, including producing high-quality briefs and submissions, as well as supporting procurement, project management, contractor management, consultation and engagement processes.

The Senior Policy Officer role requires strong information analysis, project management, stakeholder consultation and contract management skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication.

To be successful, a person in this role will be self-motivated, have a flexible work approach, be able to work effectively in distributed team arrangements across geographical locations and want to develop their experience in strategic policy advice and suicide prevention system reform.

The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about suicide prevention, has professional experience in mental health or suicide prevention, and strong interpersonal skills. Experience in monitoring and reporting and evaluation processes is also desirable.

The position is a non-ongoing (12 moth) role with potential of extension.
