Crafty Apes and our talented team members have received recognition for outstanding contributions to feature films, and we are looking for a mid- level Digital Matte Painter to join our team in Sydney. The perfect candidate is a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and embraces individuality and creativity.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-resolution digital matte paintings, sky replacements, and environment extensions based on concepts and plates.
  • Collaborate with the VFX team to ensure a cohesive and final look for all shots.
  • Work within a production pipeline, managing your time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Incorporate feedback from supervisors and senior artists to refine and improve your work.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of color, light, and perspective to ensure seamless integration of your work with live-action footage.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience as a digital matte painter or a similar role in a professional VFX environment.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and a good working knowledge of 3D software
  • A strong portfolio showcasing a range of photo-realistic matte paintings and environments.
  • Solid understanding of the VFX pipeline and how matte painting integrates with other departments like compositing and lighting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
