About The Team
The
National Measurement Institute (NMI)
is a large division within the Department of Industry, Science, and Resources (DISR). The NMI supports DISR in meeting its objectives by being the national authority on measurement. We play a fundamental role underpinning the Australian economy by maintaining and regulating Australia's measurement system, developing and maintaining national measurement standards, and delivering world-class measurement products and client services.

The Office of the CEO is a small, high performing team providing Executive support to the CEO, coordinating small projects and administering shared services at the Lindfield site.

The opportunity
We are seeking an individual with personal drive and integrity who will uphold the NMI values (Inclusive, Innovative, Accountable, Adaptable, Influential and Strategic) and APS Code of Conduct.

The Support Officer's (SO) primary role is to support projects at NMI Lindfield site and lead a small team of administration staff. The SO will assist the Office of the CEO and NMI branches as needed. This includes support to other Senior Executive and collaboration with administration staff across the division as required. It may involve work across a broad spectrum of areas and involve a wide range of tasks.

What you will do
As part of a small high-performing team, the successful candidate will:

  • assist with divisional aspects of property management, accommodation and coordination of staff moves and carry out other property related administrative duties
  • provide day to day supervision of a small team
  • assist with contract management for both procurement and other matters
  • prepare and maintain accurate registers of assets and other items
  • prepare correspondence and provide backup secretariat support including minute taking
  • prepare presentations and briefing notes to support the achievement of business requirements
  • assist with coordination of Divisional compliance, reporting, responses and other documentation
  • maintain records and arrange servicing of the site fleet vehicles
  • maintain and update administrative practices, systems and procedures to improve efficiency and service delivery.

Eligibility
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.

Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
