Tell me about this role:

Seeking a Commercial Manager to deliver high-quality commercial services across the project capability lifecycle—from planning and tendering to contract negotiation and closure.

You'll work closely with stakeholders across Defence, industry, and government to ensure commercial outcomes are delivered to the highest standards, while navigating legislative, policy, and export control requirements.

What will I be doing day to day?

  • Lead procurement planning, tender development, and contract formation activities
  • Manage contracts through their lifecycle, including payments, deliverables, and compliance
  • Draft and review commercial documentation, including SOWs, IP plans, and risk assessments
  • Coordinate with legal, financial, and technical experts to support project outcomes
  • Mentor junior commercial staff and contributing to team capability uplift
  • Engaging with stakeholders across CASG, Defence Legal, MPB, and industry partners
  • Ensuring compliance with ASDEFCON, CASG BMS, and Defence procurement policies

What sort of skills do I need?

  • Demonstrated experience in contract management, procurement, and commercial negotiations within Defence or a similar complex environment
  • Strong understanding of Commonwealth procurement frameworks, including ASDEFCON
  • Experience with export control compliance (ITAR/US regulations)
  • Familiarity with Defence systems such as ERP, DPE/DSE, and NDS (desirable)
  • Australian citizenship and a minimum NV1 security clearance
