About the Role

Architectus is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to support the commercial success of major architecture and design projects. Based in either Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne, this is a senior role reporting to the Group Director Delivery and working closely with Principals, Project Leaders, and Legal Counsel.

This role will lead and support the commercial management activities throughout the entire project lifecycle - from bid stage through to delivery - ensuring that contracts are commercially sound, risks are minimised, and projects remain profitable.

You will:

• Lead commercial the review and negotiation of client and subconsultant agreements
• Support project teams in interpreting contract terms, resolving disputes, and managing variations
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure clear scope definition, program alignment, and cost control
• Develop project plans and guide bid submissions alongside Principals and the BD team
• Shape and enhance contract management systems and processes across the business
• Provide ongoing coaching to project teams on contract management and commercial strategy
• Contribute to strategic commercial policies and continuous improvement initiatives across the studio

About You

You are a confident and collaborative commercial professional with a strong grasp of contract law, commercial risk, and the complexities of project delivery within the built environment. You're as comfortable negotiating terms as you are guiding project teams and improving internal systems.

You bring:

• 7+ years' experience in a Commercial Manager or similar role, ideally within the architecture, engineering, or construction sectors
• Experience supporting complex, large-scale projects across various sectors and industries
• Proven ability to negotiate contract terms and manage commercial risk
• Strong knowledge of contract documentation, including scopes, special conditions, progress claims and variations
• Tertiary qualifications in project management, law, engineering, construction or a related field
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and coach senior stakeholders
• A proactive, commercially astute solutions-focused mindset and the ability to drive improvements across teams
