About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate, fun, and adaptable Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting individuals with spinal injuries, brain injuries, and epilepsy and be comfortable with bowel/stoma care. You will also need to be confident in following behaviour management plans and working with children with challenging behaviours.
The role involves personal care, daily living support, social and community participation, and following structured care plans to ensure the safety and well-being of those in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing challenging behaviours by implementing behaviour support strategies.
- Completing mandatory documentation at the end of each shift to ensure compliance with NDIS standards.
- Assisting children with disabilities to participate in activities such as dance classes and community outings.
- Administering medication under supervision and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Following infection control measures and maintaining a safe, hygienic environment.
- Providing personal care, including bathing, dressing, repositioning, and assisting with toileting and stoma care.
- Supporting individuals with spinal injuries, brain injuries, and epilepsy by following detailed care plans.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including spinal and brain injuries.
- Minimum of 2+ years experience working with individuals with disabilities is required.
- Confidence in supporting individuals with epilepsy and providing bowel/stoma care.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours and follow structured behaviour support plans.
- Strong personal care skills, including bathing, dressing, and medication assistance.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing routines and needs.
- Experience working with children with disabilities is highly desirable.
- A current Working With Children Check (WWCC), Police Check, First Aid Certificate, and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- All checks including WWCC, Police Check, First Aid Certificate, and NDIS Worker Screening Check must be current at the time of application.
- A qualification in disability, community services, or related fields is highly regarded.
- Must be an Australian citizen to be eligible for this position.
