The Technical Construction Officer is a leadership role responsible for driving technical excellence and operational efficiency across all construction and project delivery activities. This role ensures alignment with corporate objectives while maintaining compliance, safety, and quality standards. This position will be responsible for providing technical construction and strategic support to current Business Dandenong Centre.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of long-term construction and technical strategies aligned with organisational goals and construction team abilities.
  • Identify growth opportunities through construction innovation, cost-efficiency, and market trends to improve delivery and operational efficiency within the construction department.
  • Collaborate with the executive team on corporate planning, operational performance, and risk

Construction Oversight

  • Provide technical knowledge oversight & support to drive performance and excellence across Sales, Project Co-Ordination and installation departments
  • Oversee Pool placement design, construction methodology and costing to align with all regulatory and internal standards.
  • Champion best-practice project delivery frameworks to improve efficiency.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives in all processes to boost efficiency and quality with a focus on technical sales, client services and construction

Technical & Regulatory Excellence

  • Ensure all projects comply with relevant codes, safety regulations, environmental standards, and legal requirements to improve efficiency.
  • Provide expert advisory guidance to the construction team on complex construction challenges, technical disputes, regulatory matters and performance solutions.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of national building codes, standards, and innovation in construction technologies across all regions covered by business.

People & Culture

  • Mentor and support teams to grow technical and construction knowledge through all areas of the business .
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
  • Support workforce development initiatives and succession planning across technical and construction functions.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with regulators, building surveyors, contractors, and internal departments to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Represent the organisation at industry events, and technical forums.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers, certifiers, and industry bodies.
  • Liaise with clients, complainants & other relevant stakeholders to mitigate defects, non-compliance and achieve desirable and cost-effective outcomes for all parties

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Solid understanding of residential pool construction, including fibreglass installation site preparation and compliance with Australian Standards
  • Proven experience leading construction teams and managing multiple projects
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, OH&S requirements and permit processes
  • Skilled in process improvement, training delivery and performance management
  • Confident supporting sales teams with technical advice and construction feasibility
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient with construction and project management software
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality outcomes
