- Temporary 6-month Director role (with potential to extend/covert to ongoing), based in Mascot with regional travel as required.
Expressions of interest are invited from ongoing and temporary employees within the NSW Public Sector who wish to be considered for this temporary role. The initial appointment is for up to six months, with the potential for extension or conversion to ongoing.
About the Role
The Aboriginal Affairs Group within the Premier's Department leads significant initiatives that shape policy and reforms for Aboriginal communities across NSW. The Group delivers on the NSW Government's commitments under Closing the Gap and supports intergovernmental reforms in land, cultural heritage, and economic development.
The Reform and Innovation Branch work in genuine partnership with Aboriginal communities to ensure policies and reforms reflect community needs and aspirations.
As our Director, Partnerships and Governance, you will lead strategic governance arrangements, advance shared decision-making, and drive accountable, transparent reporting across NSW Government agencies and Aboriginal stakeholders.
You will have the opportunity to lead the Joint Secretariat for Closing the Gap in partnership with the NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations and coordinate whole of government and stakeholder strategy to deliver outcomes to embed Priority Reforms.

We're Looking For
· Cultural Confidence: You understand how to navigate complex government contexts while maintaining strong community connections.
· Stakeholder Relationship Excellence: Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups - from community leaders and Elders to government executives and ministers. You can seamlessly transition between community engagement to NSW government engagements.
· Governance Acumen: Deep understanding of government operations and governance arrangements. Experience working with legislative frameworks and the ability to provide strategic advice on sensitive and complex Aboriginal Affairs matters.
· People Leadership & Team Building: Exceptional leadership capabilities with experience building high-performing teams and creating psychologically safe work environments. You can lead both internally within government and externally with community stakeholders.
· Requirements: You hold a current Driver's License and are willing to travel around NSW as required.
