The opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to step into a highly visible and influential role that connects the dots between Underwriters, Brokers, Product, Legal, and Claims across New Zealand and the Pacific.

As a Portfolio Specialist, you'll be part of a team that works across multiple lines – including Financial Lines, Marine, Property, and Liability – helping shape strategy, guide complex referrals, and influence product

development.

The role can be what you make it, including broker facing, with ability to write accounts and play a key role in educating others on appetite and wording.

Your new role

This role offers exposure to some of the most complex accounts in the business, with the chance to make a real impact on outcomes for our customers and our business.

  • Main point of contact for complex Financial Lines referrals from the business.
  • Work closely with Underwriters, Brokers, and Product teams to support innovation and growth.
  • Lead the review and negotiation of policy wordings and endorsements.
  • Provide training and education to Underwriters and Brokers.
  • Influence product development and strategic portfolio decisions.
  • Happy to talk flexible working.

Please note that for the successful candidate, this process will include a phone screen with our Talent Acquisition team, 2 interviews (either face to face or online via Teams), and background checks.

About you

We're looking for someone who brings a strong technical background and a collaborative mindset. You'll thrive in a role that requires both strategic thinking and hands-on expertise.

  • Proven experience underwriting corporate Professional Indemnity, D&O accounts.
  • Strong understanding of liability and multi-line insurance.
  • Confident reviewing and drafting policy wordings and endorsements.
  • Comfortable working across teams and influencing stakeholders.
  • Passionate about sharing knowledge and supporting others' development.
