The Opportunity
At Plan International Australia, your career shapes a more just world. Join us as our Business Partner, Organisational Development & Culture (0.6 FTE) and help strengthen the people systems, culture, and leadership capability that enable our mission to advance children's rights and equality for girls.
This role suits someone who thrives in relationship-centred HR work, enjoys coaching managers, and wants to contribute to an inclusive, values-driven organisation where feminist leadership principles guide how we work.
Who are we?
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation. We strongly believe in every child's limitless potential, a potential often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination – with girls often the most impacted. Working together with children and young people, as well as the support of powerful partnerships, we tackle the root causes of inequality. We actively drive change through humanitarian response, advocacy and development programs across more than 80 countries.
What is the role really like?
As our Business Partner, Organisational Development and Culture, you will provide trusted HR advice, coach people leaders, and support the delivery of core people processes including recruitment, capability development, wellbeing and performance. Your work will combine advisory capability, systems thinking, and strong interpersonal skill. This role has scope to influence culture, improve people experience, and strengthen organisational capability.
Your responsibilities will include
- Providing responsive HR guidance to people leaders on performance, conduct, capability and workforce planning.
- Coordinating and delivering recruitment, performance cycle activities, onboarding and learning initiatives.
- Partnering with managers to embed fair, consistent HR processes aligned to our award (SCHADS) and legislative requirements.
- Supporting wellbeing, psychosocial risk and inclusion initiatives in line with and feminist leadership principles.
- Contributing to a culture of transparency, collective care, shared accountability and inclusive practice.
Who are we looking for?
You bring a thoughtful, relational HR approach and enjoy supporting people leaders to grow capability and confidence. You are systems-minded, organised, practical, and values-aligned.
Need to have
- Experience partnering with managers across the employee lifecycle, ideally in a complex or values-driven organisation.
- Strong knowledge of HR processes, Award interpretation (SCHADS) and people-management capability building.
- Confidence in recruitment process delivery and candidate experience management.
- Experience navigating sensitive people matters with fairness, care and sound judgement.
- Ability to juggle priorities, maintain accuracy, and follow through on commitments.
Nice to have
- Understanding of feminist leadership, DEI practice, trauma-informed or psychosocial safety approaches.
What will set you apart?
You bring curiosity, respect, integrity and a collaborative mindset. You value shared power and inclusive decision-making, challenge inequity, and centre dignity and wellbeing in your work. You enjoy enabling others, and you show up with courage, accountability and compassion.
The Benefits
- Part-time (0.6 FTE) role with flexible working arrangements tailored to fit your life.
- Central office location at 150 Lonsdale St, Melbourne and hybrid work-from-home options (40% in office).
- A people-centric culture prioritising growth, wellbeing, flexibility and inclusion.
- Salary packaging to maximise your take-home pay.
- Employee Assistance Program and mental health initiatives.
- Regular social and team connection opportunities.
- Gifted leave days over the Christmas shutdown period.
- Gender-Neutral Paid Parental leave provisions.
- Collaboration across diverse internal groups such as our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Working Group, Reconciliation Action Group and more.
Hours, pay & start date
- SCHADS Level 4 remuneration
- Part-time 0.6 FTE
- Flexible start date and working pattern
