What will you do
We have a rare opportunity for a motivated Assistant Accountant to join our supportive and experienced finance team. You are enthusiastic, with a thirst to learn and want to develop your career in a high performing team.
Based at our Smithfield manufacturing site and reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a great opportunity for someone with 1–2 years of experience to contribute across a range of accounting functions. You'll work closely with the Finance Manager, gaining hands-on experience while identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Perform daily bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Assist with BAS, FBT, payroll tax, ABS surveys, and Payment Times Reporting.
- Manage vehicle lease administration and coordinate property rental payments.
- Prepare journals and reconcile intercompany transactions.
- Support year-end audit preparation and respond to queries.
- Contribute to process improvements and provide backup support to the Finance Manager and adhoc duties as required.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or commerce.
- Ideally you have 1-2 years' experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Commence or planning to commence CA or CPA studies.
- Computer literate with Intermediate Excel skills and ERP experience (SAP advantageous).
- Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with all stakeholders and customers.
- Are curious with a thirst to learn, want to continue to grow and use your initiative.
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent time management and coordination skills with a sense of urgency, results focused, with high attention to detail and analytical mindset.
- You have a can-do attitude, are flexible, adaptable and customer focused in everything you do
- Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent resident to apply.
