Perth, Western Australia WA Country Health Service Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

This is Fixed Term Full Time appointment to 30 June 2027 with the possibility of extension(s).
Position Profile:
The Research and Innovation directorate at WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is taking a leadership role across the organisation to drive key innovations in the access to and delivery of health care across WA. Through the increased use of technology, we are focusing on improving health service access and the health journey for country people, particularly providing specialist and multi-disciplinary care closer to home.

Position Profile: Do you have a passion for new ideas, love supporting change and driving positive outcomes in regional and remote healthcare in Western Australia?
We are seeking a suitably experienced and highly motivated Innovation Program Officer who will provide WACHS wide innovation program functions including training, workshop facilitation, project support, and communications. Every day is different with the role working collaboratively with the Innovation manager to facilitate innovation in health service delivery, across the WA Country Health Service. Successful implementation of innovation projects will involve collecting and analysing data, working with diverse stakeholder groups, developing, and testing sustainable solutions, and implementing and monitoring changes.

You will bring your passion to improve the services we deliver and collaborate with others in developing and delivering initiatives and projects that drive and embed an innovative culture throughout WACHS. Our Program Officer is encouraged to think flexibly and creatively contributing to expanding upon our ground-breaking services and success in this fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be responsible for the development and implementation of initiatives and projects that support the growth of an innovation culture across WACHS. This position will require the occupant to harness their excellent interpersonal skills, engaging with a variety of stakeholders to build positive relationships that allow the business to capitalise on innovation opportunities. A strong understanding of innovation practices, highly developed organisational skills, along with project planning, implementation and evaluation skills will allow the right person to excel.

Area Profile:
The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest country health system in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, over a vast two and a half million square kilometre area. The organisation comprises seven regions, with a strong network of public hospitals, health services and health centres located across rural and remote Western Australia. Our core business is the provision of quality, accessible health services to country WA residents and visitors.

Eligibility to Apply:
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).

Other Conditions:
WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to undertake criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process. Referees may also be asked to comment on an applicant's integrity and past demonstration of ethical behaviour.

Please note this recruitment process requires completion of satisfactory Pre-Employment Health Assessment (PEHA). Any offer of employment with WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is conditional on satisfactory PEHA to ensure you are able to perform the inherent requirements of the position. An unsatisfactory PEHA will result in the offer of employment being withdrawn. Please see the attached WACHS PEHA Policy for further information.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.

Employee Benefits:
In addition to the great salary our employees enjoy an amazing range of benefits which may include (in line with operational requirements):

  • 11.5% employer contributed superannuation into a fund of your choice. For further information click here.
