Socoro is looking for a Back End Developer to help shape the future of our flagship SaaS product, QuarryLink — a platform transforming how quarries manage their daily operations. Used by drivers, site teams, and administrators across Australia, QuarryLink is central to mission-critical workflows in an industry ready for smart, modern tools.

We're a lean, fast-moving startup with a sharp product focus, real users, and growing traction. You'll work closely with our tight-knit product team to design, build, and scale modules that underpin real-world, mission-critical workflows.

The Stack

  • Backend & Infra:
    Java 24, AWS, Terraform
  • Frontend (light exposure):
    React
  • Integrations:
    Xero, Stripe, Square, weighbridge systems, camera and drone software

What You'll Do

  • Work alongside the Principal Engineer to deliver new features from design through to deployment
  • Focus on
    robust back-end development
    , ensuring stability, scalability, and performance
  • Contribute to
    DevOps practices
    and infrastructure management (AWS, Terraform)
  • Design and implement reliable
    third-party integrations
    (finance systems, IoT, hardware, and more)
  • Collaborate with Product (PM/UX) to ensure solutions are practical, scalable, and user-centric
  • Build and refine API endpoints and data handling across the platform
  • Write clear documentation and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing

What You Bring

  • 5+ years
    working as a Back End Developer, ideally within SaaS or complex integration environments
  • Strong experience with
    Java (Java 24 preferred)
    and functional programming concepts
  • Solid understanding of
    cloud architecture (AWS S3, Lambda)
    and infrastructure as code (
    Terraform
    )
  • Proficiency working with
    databases
    and storage systems (SQL, CRUD operations)
  • Strong knowledge of
    Spring Security
    and best practices for security layering
  • Experience building and maintaining
    API-driven systems

Bonus Points For

  • Experience launching or scaling
    SaaS products
  • Knowledge of
    OAuth2 protocols
    and authentication flows
  • Familiarity with
    compliance, permissions, or operational modules
    in B2B platforms
  • Previous exposure to fast-moving,
    startup-style environments
