About the opportunity
  • Focus on the beautification of our premier greenspace areas, formal gardens, waterbodies and continuing improvement of the horticultural amenity of our public greenspace
  • Assist with the development and training of Apprentices
  • Lead the Maintenance crews in the servicing and maintenance of our premier greenspace areas to ensure a high-level, quality horticultural service is performed and the landscape finish remains safe, attractive and inviting to use to our park visitors.
Qualifications and experienceEssential:
  • Certificate III in Horticulture, Parks and Gardens or related areas
  • Solid experience in the preparation of formal lawns, gardens, wetlands and aquatic garden areas
  • Current class MR driver's licence
  • Solid staff supervision experience
  • Extensive experience in maintenance of Greenspace areas including high profile parks, reserves, etc.
  • Chemical application AQF4
  • RTA approved traffic control accreditation
  • Knowledge of applicable legislations /regulations
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft office, the use of tablet devices and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid experience in setting up for major events
  • Solid experience in liaising with contractors
  • Experience in the control of noxious
  • Chainsaw operation certificate of competence.
Desirable:
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Work health and safety, Equal Employment opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Principles.
Remuneration and benefits
  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,566.49 per week
  • 38-hour working week
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
