The opportunity
Join our Records Management and Information Governance team at Wollongong City Council as a Records Officer. We have two positions available for individuals who are motivated and detail-oriented.
These roles are essential to the efficient handling of Council's corporate information and mail processes. You'll be part of a supportive and collaborative team, delivering high-quality service to both internal and external customers while ensuring compliance and accuracy in all aspects of records and information governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and allocate incoming and outgoing corporate mail
- Register, retrieve, sort, scan, and enter hard copy mail into Council systems
- Review and analyse corporate emails
- Process animal registration forms and ad hoc filing
- Assist with helpdesk tickets
- Guide and educate stakeholders in records management practices
- Interpret customer requests to locate information in Council systems
- Support compliance work within the Electronic Document Records Management System (EDRMS)
- Assist the Right to Information Officer with GIPA applications, including triage and research
- Handle legal documents with a high level of confidentiality and accuracy
We are currently offering two term contract opportunities:
- Full-Time position for 6 months, with the possibility of extension
- Part-Time position 28 hours per week for 10 months, with the potential for extension or permanency
Salary from $80,051 to $88,389 per annum plus superannuation (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications)
About you
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
- Experience working with an EDRMS - TechOne experience is highly desirable
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal supervision
- A proactive and customer-focused approach to service delivery
- Knowledge of GIPA legislation and processes (advantageous but not essential)
