Mawson Restaurant, a family-run local favourite in Caves Beach, NSW, is on the lookout for a passionate, creative and experienced Sous Chef (or a strong CDP ready to step up).

About the Role

As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in daily kitchen operations, menu execution, and maintaining our high standards of food quality. You'll work closely with the Head Chef to lead the team, contribute creative ideas, and ensure a smooth and efficient service. We also have degustation dinners and functions where you have the opportunity to learn and excel as well as be creative.

What You'll Do

  • Assist the Head Chef with all kitchen operations
  • Maintain food quality, presentation, and consistency
  • Support menu development and specials
  • Oversee service during busy periods
  • Train, guide, and mentor junior kitchen staff
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards

About You

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong experience as a Chef de Partie
  • Passion for fresh, high-quality, seasonal food
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • A positive attitude and commitment to teamwork
  • Availability for weekends, evenings, and peak periods
