We're seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our dynamic Payroll Team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to accurate and timely payroll processing for our nationwide operations while supporting our dedicated healthcare professionals.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
Monthly Payroll Processing
- Assist in monthly payroll processing for all states, territories and entities ( circa 1000 employees)
- Input data and variation changes to HRIS systems with precision and timeliness, manage payroll inbox for employee queries
- Prepare payroll reports and resolve variances, monthly payroll tax calculations and lodgements
- Support pay finalisation and wage transmission processes
Administration & Compliance
- Maintain payroll documentation, policies and procedures
- Process superannuation payments and maintain records
- Prepare payroll tax returns and workers compensation documents
- Administer salary packaging procedures with external providers
- Handle Employee Self Service (ESS) administration
Annual Processes
- Support year-end processes including Income Summaries via Single Touch Payroll (STP) to the ATO
- Assist with annual payroll tax returns and reconciliations, annual Workers Compensation estimates/actual lodgements and payments
- Process Performance & Remuneration Review salary adjustments
- Support Incentive plan processing (STI and LTI)
Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with external providers (Dayforce, LeasePlan/SG Fleet, MLC, Deloitte)
- Provide exceptional customer service to employees and managers
- Respond to payroll enquiries promptly and accurately
- Liaise with internal teams including People & Culture and Finance
What we're looking for
- 5+ years relevant experience
- Strong numeracy skills with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication and time management abilities
- Experience with payroll systems (Dayforce experience preferred)
- Experience in overpayments/underpayments/retro adjusted entries.
- Understanding of payroll legislation, awards and compliance requirements
- Ability to interpret leave entitlement calculations and handle retro entries
- Customer service focused mindset
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs and new technologies
