The Opportunity

Are you a good communicator who wants to make soil knowledge more accessible and understandable?

The Project Officer Soil Action plays a key role in supporting the strategic delivery of initiatives under the South Australian Soils Collaboration Centre and the National Soil Action Plan 2023–2028. This position is responsible for enhancing soil knowledge, data accessibility, and stakeholder engagement across South Australia's soil community.

The role involves identifying and curating soil-related resources, contributing to the development of knowledge-sharing platforms, and supporting communication strategies that promote sustainable soil management practices. By fostering collaboration between government, industry, research institutions, and community stakeholders, the Project Officer helps build a robust soil knowledge network that underpins long-term agricultural productivity and natural resource sustainability.

The role contributes delivering the agency's priorities and supports the divisional objectives including supporting industry to sustain our natural soil resource.

Special Conditions

  • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
  • Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
  • Opportunity up to June 2028
  • Part time opportunity, 22.5 hours per week

Requirements

  • Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
  • Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

  • Relevant qualification in soil science, agriculture, natural resource management or equivalent., knowledge of effective science communication.

Remuneration

ASO5 - $85,790 min - $95,413 max per annum, plus superannuation
