About the Team
The Truth & Healing Branch is entrusted with delivering some of the NSW Government's most important commitments under Treaty, OCHRE and Unfinished Business. Our work is guided by the voices of survivors and Aboriginal communities and is underpinned by principles of co-design, cultural safety, and truth-telling.
About the Role
As an Assistant Project Officer within Aboriginal Affairs NSW, you'll support projects that directly contribute to improving outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities across the state. This role involves coordinating research, reporting, and project activities that help ensure Aboriginal voices are heard, respected, and reflected in government decision-making. The Assistant Project Officer roles within Truth & Healing will involve providing project support through secretariat, coordination, budget and finance processes, events management and project delivery across a broad range of major project initiatives.
The roles include work within the Executive support team, the Keeping Places Project and the Healing Team. All roles work closely with NSW Aboriginal communities and Stolen Generation Survivors. The work of the Truth & Healing Directorate is incredibly important for the NSW Government and for our Aboriginal communities.

- Project Support: Proven ability to support the smooth delivery of projects by tracking milestones, coordinating tasks, and keeping everything on schedule. Comfortable working across teams to ensure goals are met on time and within scope.
- Communication: Strong communicator who keeps stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle. Skilled at translating complex updates into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Attention to Detail: Takes pride in accuracy, ensuring all records and reports align with project standards and expectations. Brings a meticulous approach to maintaining quality across all project outputs.
- Problem Solving: Quick to identify issues and apply practical solutions to keep projects moving forward. Brings a proactive mindset to overcoming challenges and improving processes along the way.
