Location: Candidates may live outside of Sydney but must be prepared to travel to the home base office in Pyrmont Sydney for team landing days and other Registry events.
About the team:
This role sits within the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages Vulnerable Communities team. The team processes a range of life event applications and registrations including attendance at community events in various metropolitan, regional and remote locations across NSW.
The team processes over 6,000 applications each year from vulnerable and disadvantaged customers from all walks of life. This requires you having excellent written and verbal communication skills as you will be working in a high-volume environment while meeting multiple deadlines in line with administrative and service delivery standards.
The team attends over 100 community events each year across NSW to help vulnerable customers relating to birth registration challenges and access to free and discounted birth certificates. This means you will be collaborating and working alongside other government agencies and non-government organisations who also provide outreach services.
The team travels more than 20,000kms each year across NSW assisting vulnerable and disadvantaged customers. This means you will have an ability to REGULARLY travel long distances, more often than not, to regional and remote parts of the state for consecutive days/weeks at a time.
Your day-to-day
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Experience in participation and the delivery of outreach services, communication strategies and programs to support face-to-face community engagement activities.
- An understanding of what the current issues impacting vulnerable and disadvantaged people are in regional and remote areas of NSW.
- An ability to develop and maintain relationships with the local community and stakeholders given some areas may have limited and/or restricted access and contact in regional and remote locations.
- An ability to educate and provide information to customers and stakeholders on relevant legislation, regulations, policies and present options.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and be able to engage with and integrate the views of others in an inclusive, constructive and respectful way.
Salary Grade Clerk 3/4 starting at $84,659p.a. base, plus superannuation.
