Finance Officer- Accounts Payable (12 month Leave Coverage)

About the candidate:

This is a leaver coverage role for 12 months and presents an outstanding opportunity for an experienced finance and accounts payable professional. The Finance Officer is responsible for leading the Accounts Payable (AP) function at TasRail, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors, suppliers, and staff in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This role includes direct supervision of one Finance Officer and requires a hands-on approach, including performing data entry and processing tasks as needed to support business continuity. The Finance Officer will also provide support across broader finance functions.

A Minimum 2+ years of accounting or finance experience is required for this position.

A TAFE certificate, diploma qualification or equivalent is required for this Finance Officer role.

Primary Responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant payment of all invoices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for AP queries and escalations.
  • Process supplier invoices, credit notes and staff reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure all payments are correctly authorised.
  • Maintain up to date record within the system
  • Ensure AP processes comply with internal policies, standards and regulations.
