A little bit about the role
The Continuous Improvement and Planning Lead plays a strategic leadership role in driving service excellence, innovation, and operational efficiency across the library network. This position is responsible for leading service planning, policy development, and data-driven decision-making to support responsive and future-focused library services.
It oversees key functions including project coordination, service reviews, and trend analysis, while also managing staff rostering in a high-demand environment. The role leads recruitment and onboarding processes and is instrumental in promoting library services, programs, and events through effective communication and marketing strategies. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, the role ensures that services evolve to meet the changing needs of the community.
A little bit about you
You are passionate about delivering high-quality strategic leadership. You will have strong project management skills and a track record of completing milestone projects on time. As an experienced leader, managing people, you will hold a strong understanding of customer experience principles. You will have demonstrated skills in resolving complex situations and supporting diverse community needs along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Employment Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Science, Business, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Demonstrated experience in leading strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives in a library or community service environment.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and produce high-quality reports to support evidence-based decision-making.
Proven ability to manage complex projects from initiation to completion, including stakeholder engagement and change management.
Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and service frameworks.
High-level organisational skills with experience managing staff rostering in a high-demand, multi-site environment.
Demonstrated capability in recruitment, onboarding, and staff development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in marketing, promotions, and community engagement.
Sound knowledge of contemporary library services, technologies, and trends.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and with external stakeholders.
