Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Anduril Industries Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century's most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril's family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

Anduril Australia's field operations team is the "boots-on-the-ground" group that deploys and operates Anduril's leading edge autonomous systems, runs demonstrations, exercises, and tests with customers, sustains field hardware, feeds operational lessons back to engineering, and ensures Anduril autonomous systems deliver mission outcomes in operational environments.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate field deployments and facilitate communication between internal and external stakeholders, including defence clients. Manage expectations and ensure mission requirements are fulfilled. Support the development of comprehensive mission plans, considering route optimisation, environmental conditions, and risk mitigation to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Oversee Autonomous Underwater Vessel (AUV) operations during missions, monitor vehicle performance, sensor data, and mission progress in real-time. Address technical issues promptly and implement contingency plans to maintain mission continuity. Maintain situational awareness of maritime environments and adjust mission parameters as needed.
  • Gather, analyse, and interpret data from AUV missions to extract actionable insights. Create detailed mission reports summarising key findings, observations, and recommendations. Provide feedback to engineering and development teams to enhance AUV capabilities continuously.
  • Conduct training sessions for Department of Defence personnel on AUV operation, mission planning, and maintenance procedures. Offer ongoing support and assistance to end-users, addressing inquiries and resolving operational challenges effectively.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with partners and customers by providing outstanding operating support and effective communication. Understand their needs, gather feedback, and advocate for their requirements within Anduril, serving as a technical liaison between partners/customers and internal teams.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, Department of Defence policies, and industry standards related to AUV operations. Implement safety protocols and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel.
  • Develop, evaluate and iterate Standard Operating Procedures and user documentation for all aspects of AUV operations
  • Support maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and upgrade activities of AUVs in the field
  • Be in the field 60%+ of the time, supporting nearshore and offshore testing

Desired Qualifications & Attributes

  • A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, maritime studies, or experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in maritime operations, especially with autonomous or unmanned systems, is advantageous.
  • Skilled in using mission planning software, GIS tools, and maritime navigation systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make swift decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across diverse teams.
  • High technical aptitude, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and systems.
