Junior Hand Detailer - Sewing (Couture)

Location: Ramsgate, Sydney (Selene Atelier Store)

Lace and Embroidery Pty Ltd (sister brand to Selene Atelier) is seeking a Junior Hand Detailer - Sewing to join our Ramsgate atelier. The role is based in our Selene Atelier store, where our bespoke christening gowns and heirloom couture pieces are designed and created.

About the Role

We are looking for someone with proven hand-sewing ability and a genuine love for detailed craftsmanship. While we welcome different backgrounds - whether self-taught or with formal training - we do prefer applicants with some prior sewing or handwork experience and the ability to provide references.

You'll support our atelier team in the couture finishing process, ensuring each gown is beautifully detailed and ready for fittings and client handovers.

Key Responsibilities


• Hand sewing hems, linings, invisible stitches, and gown finishing


• Beading and embellishment on high-end couture laces


• Lace appliqué placement and attachment


• Preparing gowns for fittings and handovers (notes, files, gown organisation)


• Following instructions and working closely with the atelier team

Skills & Requirements


• Confident hand-sewing skills (experience essential)


• Ability to work with delicate fabrics (lace, silk, Mikado, tulle)


• Knowledge of beading and couture lace techniques


• Strong attention to detail, patience, and precision


• Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly for gown prep and handover files


• Reliable, punctual, and able to provide references from previous work
