Job Description

About the Role:

The IT Support (Casual) role will provide support to Arc staff and volunteers via phone, email and in person. The role will also help to assist the IT team in software, hardware and other technological tasks and issues. This role will initially run for 4 weeks (16 hours a week) followed by 5 weeks (4 days a week), and with the potential to extend the duration if required.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Process incoming IT requests and take a hands-on role addressing support enquiries.
  • Record, track and document all service requests and issues.
  • Prioritize urgent requests and escalations efficiently.
  • Follow up on pending and delayed support cases.
  • Maintenance of hardware, software and other systems as directed by IT Manager.
  • Setting up new PC's, upgrading existing PC hardware.
  • Assist in hardware and software inventory management.
  • To undertake other general tasks and duties as directed by the IT Manager.
  • Comply with Arc OHS policy and procedures to actively participate in the achievement of a safe working culture.

Desired Skills and Experience

Selection Criteria:

  • Relevant IT qualification: Students or fresh graduates of relevant Information Technology field.
  • Must take direction well and be a motivated self-starter. Must be open and excited to learn new technologies.
  • Must have strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Customer-service oriented and learn techniques to best serve the staff and students of Arc.
  • Experience with Windows and Mac Operating Systems is useful.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and effectively solve technical problems.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision under time constraints with creativity and innovative troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and to interact successfully with students, Arc staff and UNSW staff.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding in compliance with privacy regulations and legislations.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in IT support via previous experience or in pursuit of a relevant qualification, such as a qualification in computer science or information technology.
  • If studying, must have a schedule that allows them to work at least 3 days each week for at least four hours each day.
