Cyber Security Analyst– Melbourne VIC
Kogan People Solutions, recruiters, are working with a growing IT services and cybersecurity firm which is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst to join their team. This is a full-time, ongoing role offering an attractive salary in the range of $90k–$100k plus superannuation
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Threat Detection
- Monitor systems, networks, and cloud environments to identify potential security threats or unusual behaviour.
- Analyse security logs, detect patterns, and recommend proactive security improvements.
Incident Response & Recovery
- Investigate, document, and respond to cybersecurity incidents in line with company procedures and service levels.
- Analyse damage to data or infrastructure following security incidents and recommend recovery solutions.
Vulnerability Management & Compliance
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and apply patches to maintain secure systems.
- Ensure systems comply with relevant security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, ACSC Essential Eight).
Collaboration, Reporting & Strategic Advisory
- Work closely with IT, network, and cloud teams to embed security into operational processes.
- Prepare security reports and metrics for management and clients.
- Provide recommendations to management on security strategy, risk mitigation, and policy improvements.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of security policies, procedures, and controls.
You should be able to demonstrate the following attributes and strengths to be considered:
- Minimum 3 years professional experience in cybersecurity, network, or system security
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (or agreed equivalent)
- Experience with SIEM tools, firewalls, VPNs, endpoint protection, and cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of incident response frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK) and security best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across internal and client stakeholders.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly regarded.
