About the Role
This role sits within the Stakeholder Relations and Policy team and coordinates and undertakes policy development, providing analysis and advice to support the development and implementation of policy initiatives for icare's schemes.

Duties
It's an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as a Senior Policy Officer you will:
- Undertake research, analysis and review alternatives in relation to policy deliverables to contribute to the policy process and to inform decision making.
- Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of policy papers, discussion papers, briefs and submissions, to contribute to the development and delivery of policy initiatives.
- Assist in the preparation of Ministerial briefings and executive level correspondence, submissions and reports as required.
- Prepare and review policy advice to ensure alignment with policy directions.
- Monitor relevant trends, issues and developments that may impact policy areas.
- Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, meetings, and stakeholder consultations to support engagement as well as policy development and implementation. Prepare materials, assist with note taking and analysis of feedback as required.
- Undertake research and collate information for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to contribute to the achievement of policy outcomes.
- Provide general support to the policy team and collaborate across business areas as required.
Skills & Experience
- Pre-Employment Checks
- Degree in public policy, law, economics, social science political science or related discipline
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical thinking and ability to synthesize complex information clearly
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Sound judgement and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel PowerPoint)
- Some experience in research, administration or analysis (including through internships, university work or previous employment)
- Understanding of icare's schemes is highly desirable as is an understanding of the machinery of Government
